Automation Computers and Networks Assessment

The BSUBAS Automation Computers and Networks Assessment fills the gap between the Facilities Operations and Information Technology business units. In many cases the automation computers and even the automation networks are in a grey area regarding the responsible party for service, maintenance and upgrades. This invariably results in automation computer and network equipment being behind in servers and application updates increasing security risks and diminishing performance.

Automation Servers

• List servers by manufacture, model, serial number, and type
• Perform a hardware Capacity Analysis
• Determine OS software, revisions, and service packs
• Confirm current installed security upgrades and software patches
• List automation software and revisions

Work Stations

• Determine how many operator workstations exist
• List workstations by manufacture, model, serial number, and type
• Perform a Hardware Capacity Analysis
• Determine OS software, revisions, and service packs
• Confirm current installed security upgrades and software patches
• List automation software and revisions

Local Automation Device Networks

• Record number of devices on each local device network
• Record local device types (e.g. VAV, VFD, etc.)
• Record applications on each device with cross-reference
• Record firmware revision of local devices
• Record local device network configuration and data exchange speed

Corporate Automation and Enterprise Networks

• Record any available Data Jack ID / Cable ID
• Determine if Network Switch port identification is available
• Determine if Ethernet Configuration meets corporate guidelines

All results are submitted in a Status Report package with areas of concern and recommendations highlighted. Any immediate hazards discovered during inspection result in immediate client notification.
